Vacancies: Teacher Markers
Applications Open for Auckland based Teacher Markers 18th - 29th September 2017 (last 2 weeks of Term 3)

During July to September 2017, students from 200 randomly selected schools throughout New Zealand are participating in the National Monitoring Study of Student Achievement (NMSSA). The purpose of the study is to get a broad picture of New Zealand student achievement at year 4 and year 8 levels. This year science, health and physical education are being assessed, as well as exploring contextual factors that influence students’ achievement.
NMSSA is seeking Auckland teachers who:
are experienced full-time registered teachers in the New Zealand school sector;
have current curriculum knowledge and understanding in the areas being assessed - science, health and physical education;
have knowledge of the capabilities of students at the Year 4 and/or Year 8 levels; and
are able to follow procedures and work systematically, with careful attention to detail.
 Job Description  Application Information
Teachers work in pairs and individually to mark science, health and physical education assessment tasks against established marking criteria. The marking involves making judgements about year 4 and 8 students’ work from video recordings and written scripts. Training and moderation of marking is undertaken throughout under the guidance of NMSSA staff.
When: Monday 18th – Friday 29th September (last 2 weeks of Term 3)
Hours of work: 9am - 4pm

Teachers will be seconded and so continue to get paid through their school. Schools will be reimbursed for the cost of a relieving teacher/s to cover the seconded teacher.
